American Welcomes Wagner to Jacobs Field

WASHINGTON – Looking to improve to 2-0 at home, the American University lacrosse team hosts Wagner in a non-conference matchup Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Eagles enter Saturday's game with a 1-3 record after dropping an 18-7 road contest to UMBC on Wednesday. Sophomore Jennifer DeSimone matched her career high with four goals to lead American against the Retrievers, while senior Olivia Mangan added a goal and three assists.

For the season, Mangan leads the Eagles with 16 total points (7g, 9a), while DeSimone has added 13 points, including a team-best 11 goals.

Wagner enters the weekend with an 0-2 record and is coming off a 16-5 loss to third-ranked Syracuse. Senior Shea Gegan had two goals and an assist to lead the Seahawks' offense against the Orange.

Gegan has seven total points (4g, 3a) this season to lead Wagner, while classmate Kimmy Tumolo has added four points (3g, 1a). Three different goalkeepers have seen action for the Seahawks in their first two games, with sophomore Kelsey Fee recording a team-high nine saves.
