American Falls to Colgate in Season Finale

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Despite putting together a second-half rally, the American lacrosse team was unable to get past Colgate on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 15-7 decision to the Raiders in Patriot League action.

With the loss, the Eagles end the season with a 4-12 overall mark and a 2-6 ledger in the Patriot League. Meanwhile, the Raiders improve to 10-5 overall and enter the Patriot League as the second seed with a 6-2 conference record.

Haley O'Hanlon scored four of her game-high six goals in the first 12 minutes for Colgate as the Raiders started the game with a 6-0 advantage. Sophomore Madison Hoon broke the Eagles' scoring drought with a tally at the 9:38 mark in the opening half, but American went into the intermission with a 7-1 deficit.

Colgate went on a 7-1 run to start the second half, pushing its advantage to double digits, before the Eagles scored five straight late in the period. However, it was not enough, as the Raiders added one more goal to close out the game.

Junior Jessica Wojciechowski registered her seventh hat trick of the season to lead American, which was outshot 23-12 for the game.

Also scoring for the Eagles were Hoon, seniors Jamie Silverman and Jordan Harrington and freshman Jennifer DeSimone.
