Lacrosse Suffers Third Straight Conference Loss to #19 Navy

The American University lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Navy, 13-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Jacobs Field.

Navy (9-0, 3-0) scored three straight goals within the first 10 minutes and continued to find the back of the net, adding five more unanswered tallies to head into the intermission with an 8-0 lead. 

The Midshipmen added another score five minutes into the second half for the 9-0 advantage. Shauna Norris scored on a free position to put American (2-7, 0-3) on the board. But Navy was able to answer with another 4-0 run as it remained undefeated on the year and in the Patriot League with a 13-1 victory.

Jessica Wojciechowski led the Eagles with two ground balls collected and Alex Lugovina had two draw controls. Jackie Ferri made three saves between the pipes for American. 

Loren Generi led the Midshipmen with four goals and two assists and Aimee Gennaro had three points on two tallies and an assist. Annie Foky, Gennaro and Sarah George collected two ground balls apiece to lead Navy and Jill Coughlin had six draw controls. Foky made five stops as the starting goalkeeper.

Both teams collected nine ground balls in the game. The Midshipmen held a 13-3 advantage in draw controls and 23-12 advantage in shots.

American will look to bounce back when it hosts Old Dominion on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
