The American University women’s lacrosse team looks to continue its recent hot streak when it plays at Navy on Wednesday, April 7 at 5 p.m. The Eagles have won back-to-back games and three of their last four to move into second place in the Patriot League behind the Midshipmen.
American (5-7, 3-1 PL) is coming off of a 19-12 victory at home over Lafayette on Saturday. Sophomore Emma Larkin had a career day with career-highs in caused turnovers (six) and groundballs (five). For her efforts, she was recognized as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
The Eagles were also led by the balanced scoring attack of senior Amanda Makoid, sophomore Lauren Schoenberger, and freshman Samantha Marshall, who each scored three goals in the victory over Lafayette.
American would clinch a berth in the four-team Patriot League Tournament with a win over Navy and a Lehigh loss against Holy Cross on Saturday.
Navy enters the game at 12-2 overall on the season and 3-0 in Patriot League play. The Mids defeated Colgate last Saturday by a score of 12-8 in Hamilton, N.Y. Their team is led by senior standout Erin Rawlick, who leads Navy in goals (55), assists (25), and points (80). She currently leads the country with her 55 goals.
The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
