
The American University women’s lacrosse team will travel to Baltimore, Md., to take on Maryland-Baltimore County on Wednesday, March 17th at 4 p.m.
American (2-5) looks to rebound on the road after falling to Colgate in Saturday’s Patriot League opener. Senior Lisa Schaaf and sophomores Paige Lin and Lauren Schoenberger each scored two goals to lead the Eagles against the Raiders. With 10 goals and seven assists on the season, Schoenberger’s 17 total points leads the American offense. Senior Amanda Makoid leads the team in goals scored with 12. Defensively, sophomore Emma Larkin paces the squad with 10 caused turnovers, and sophomore Emily Stankiewicz has recorded team-highs with 17 ground balls and 17 draw controls on the season.
The Eagles will be shooting for their second straight road victory. Last time away from Jacobs Field on February 27, American came away with the dramatic 14-10 come-from-behind victory at Stony Brook.
UMBC (4-3) enters the game having defeated Monmouth and Fresno State in the first two games of a three-game homestand. The Retrievers are led offensively by junior Erika Braerman, who scored seven points on five goals and two assists against Monmouth. Braerman leads UMBC with sixteen goals on the season. Senior goalkeeper Kate Quick has registered 52 saves on 146 shots faced.
