WASHINGTON - No. 15 American University field hockey players Denise Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago) and Anne-Meike De Wiljes (Hannover, Germany/Humboldschule Hannover) took home two Patriot League weekly awards after helping the Eagles to a 2-0 win over Bucknell, conference officials announced Monday.

Infante earns her third Player of the Week honor after holding the Bison to just four shots on Saturday and zero in the first half. After notching an assist in AU's win over Bucknell, Infante leads the Eagles and the Patriot League in assists, tallying nine on the season. Infante and American's defense have only allowed 71 shots on goal in 13 games, with the Eagles' offense dominating on the other end, recording 140 shots on goal.

De Wiljes earned PL Rookie of the Week honors for her performance in each of AU's games this season. De Wiljes has stepped in as a freshman and started in 12 games for the Eagles, consistently making an impact. She is an integral part of American's defense and transition, creating offensive threats from her defensive skills. De Wiljes has three assists in the season.

The win over Bucknell has extended American University's Patriot League win streak to 24 games dating back to the Eagles' loss against Holy Cross in the 2002 season.

The Eagles are 9-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. AU returns to action on Oct. 14 when it faces Lafayette at 12 p.m. at the William I Jacobs Recreational Complex.
