WASHINGTON - American University field hockey freshman Aidan Rossman earned her first career GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week award on Wednesday, Oct. 3, after helping lead the team to a 9-1 victory over Lehigh on Saturday.
The Beaverdam, Va., native put away a career-high two goals against the Mountain Hawks to bring the Eagles up to a 5-4 overall record, 2-1 in the league. Rossman tapped in the third goal of the game to open the second half, redirecting a shot from sophomore Noor Coenen along the post. She added the eighth goal of the day later in the half, taking a pass from across the cage from junior Jette Dieckmann.
Coenen and junior Kathryn Roncoroni also led the team with two goals against Lehigh.
Rossman now totals three goals for the season after she tallied her first point as an Eagle during the 5-2 win over then-No. 17 James Madison.
The Eagles will be back on the road next weekend with an 11 a.m. game at Bucknell on Saturday (Oct. 6). AU will return home for a two-game stretch starting Friday, Oct. 12, against Towson followed by Old Dominion on Sunday, Oct. 14.
