WASHINGTONNatalie Konerth of American University added another academic honor to her ever-growing list of accomplishments this week when she was voted to the Academic All-District 2 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Konerth, a graduating senior field hockey player from Huntingtown, Md., was one of 10 student-athletes selected as part of CoSIDA's Women's At-Large Team, which covers all women's sports except track and field, soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball.
She will automatically be nominated for CoSIDA's Academic All-America Team, with voting to be conducted over the next few weeks.

The Academic All-District honor was the second straight for Konerth in the CoSIDA program.

Earlier this semester, she was honored as one of two top female seniors at AU in individual GPA, carrying a 4.00 in applied mathematics. She has co-authored an academic paper in her department at AU and earned back-to-back honors as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

As a player, Konerth recently earned AU's Senior Female Athlete Award. She was a two-time All Mid-Atlantic Region and All-Patriot League unanimous first-team selection, and finished her four years with the Eagles in 14th in career points (77).

The district award covers all NCAA Division I institutions in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Seven of the 10 student-athletes earning All-District carry a 4.00 GPA at their institutions.
