American women's basketball hosts Lehigh University on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m., hoping to exact revenge on the Mountain Hawks for a 72-51 loss in Bethlehem, Pa., earlier this season.
Tonight's game could be a statement game for the Eagles. American opened its Patriot League season with that devastating loss at Lehigh on Jan. 8. However, the current status of AU women's basketball is a lot different than the team that was facing the Mountain Hawks that day. That team was still reeling from the loss of starting point guard Tala Hadavi.
Since then, American has righted its ship and is out to prove that first PL game was a fluke. However, Lehigh has been one of the strongest teams in the league, albeit they are coming off a poor showing. The Mountain Hawks proved their mettle against league-leading Holy Cross, beating the Crusaders, 73-63, at home on Feb. 13, before dropping a road contest against sixth-place Navy, 64-59, on Feb. 19.
