WASHINGTON - American University women's basketball player Chanel Hunt (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) has been selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II University Division Second Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday.
Hunt, a senior forward on the 10-14 Eagles, is a biology major with a 3.6 overall grade point average. Hunt has started in 17 of her 24 games this season and ranks second on the team in scoring (10.8 ppg) and third in rebounding (5.1 rpg) while leading the squad in steals (65) and blocks (14). Hunt ranks in the top-20 in the Patriot League in each of those categories.
Hunt surpassed 1,000 career points in her first game this season and currently has 1,253 career points, good for fifth all-time at American. Hunt also ranks in the top-10 all-time at AU in career rebounds (701, third place), steals (284, second) and blocks (63, tied for sixth).
American is currently tied for fourth place in the Patriot League with three league games remaining. The Eagles host eighth-place Lafayette on Saturday at 2 p.m.
