After getting its Patriot League season back on track with two consecutive league wins over Lafayette and Army, the Eagles fell back into the losing column with a 67-48 loss at home to Holy Cross. The loss dropped AU to 2-3 in the PL and into a tie for fourth place.
This weekend's games could prove pivotal towards the Eagles' standing at the end of the season. American is currently tied with Navy at 2-3, just one game out of third place, which is held by Army. Both PL opponents enter this weekend with 1-4 league records.
The 2-3 league record for AU is the worst start since the Eagles started 2-4 in their first season in the league. American finished that season 7-7 in the PL and have never had a losing season in the league.
