American Earns 14-Seed in First NCAA Appearance

WASHINGTON – The American University women's basketball team received a 14 seed and will visit third-seeded Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, as announced Monday. 

The American-Iowa game is slated for Friday, March 20, with a 2:30 p.m. (ET) tip off. The contest, being held at Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena, will be televised by ESPN2.

The Eagles, who carry a 24-8 overall record on the season, will make their first NCAA appearance in program history after winning their first Patriot League tournament championship. American, which entered the league tournament as the top seed with a 16-2 league record, defeated Lafayette, Navy and Lehigh en route to the title.

Iowa, which holds a 24-7 record, finished second in the Big Ten Conference during the regular season with a 14-4 mark. The 18th-ranked Hawkeyes, who are undefeated at home this season, dropped a 91-85 overtime decision to Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.

1.) Eagles Club members who have made lifetime gifts to Athletics in excess of $10,000 and are current Eagles Club members
2.) Eagles Club members who donate $2,500 or more to the athletics annual fund
3.) Eagles Club members who donated $500 or more to the athletics annual fund
4.) 2014-15 Eagles Club Members
5.) American University Alumni/Faculty/Staff
6.) American University Fans/General Public

Note: Donors to the women's basketball program and basketball season ticket holders will receive highest priority in each category above
