@AU_Wrestling Travels to #6 Lehigh on Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American University faces its stiffest dual-match test of the season on Friday when it travels to 6th-ranked Lehigh on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Eagles are 3-2 overall after winning two of three duals last Friday at North Carolina. AU beat the host Tar Heels and Duke before losing in the nightcap to Wyoming.

Michael Sprague and Jeric Kasunic each went 3-0 in Chapel Hill last week. Sprague earned recognition from TheOpenMat.com in its list of top 10 collegiate performances of the week after opening the day with an overtime upset of 4th-ranked Troy Heilmann of UNC.

Kasunic has now won 12 straight bouts and has a team-best 22-3 record. He is ranked ninth in the nation by TrackWrestling.com and is two wins away from cracking the top 10 in career victories at AU.

Josh Terao is ranked eighth this week at 133 pounds and improved to 20-4 with a pair of wins at UNC. Sprague (21st at 149) and Brett Dempsey (23rd at 285) are also ranked coming into the match with the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh is 6-1 overall and is ranked sixth as a team by IntermatWrestle.com. The Mountain Hawks have eight wrestlers ranked by various national websites, led by senior 125-pounder Darian Cruz (3rd), junior 184-pounder Ryan Preisch (4th) and sophomore Jordan Kutler (5th at 174).

American travels to Brown for another Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association dual match on Sunday at noon.
