BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The brackets, including final seeds, for the 2015 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships have been released. Six of 10 American University wrestlers competing in this year's event enter the tournament with a top-eight seed.
Leading the way for the Eagles is junior David Terao, who is seeded second at 125 pounds. He will open competition versus Edgar Garcia of Franklin & Marshall.
Freshman Josh Terao is the fifth seed at 133 pounds and will take on Brown's Ezekiel Salvo in his first round match-up.
At 149 pounds, sophomore Tom Page is the eighth seed, facing Binghamton's Nick Tighe in the opening round.
Junior captain John Boyle is seeded sixth in a deep 157-pound weight class, and will face off against Jahlani Callendar of Hofstra to begin the tournament.
At 184 pounds, freshman Jeric Kasunic enters as the seventh seed, taking on Columbia's Zack Hernandez in the opening round.
Rounding out the group of American's top eight seeds is sophomore Brett Dempsey, who enters as the eighth seed at 197 pounds. Dempsey's first round match-up will be against Harvard's Michael Mocco.
The first session of the championships, being held at Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University, is slated to begin Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. The action continues on Saturday, beginning with the championship semifinals and third round of wrestlebacks at 10 a.m. Meanwhile, the EIWA Hall of Fame induction ceremony and championship finals will commence at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
