INDIANAPOLIS – Three American University wrestlers appear in the first RPI (ratings percentage index) rankings for the 2014-15 season, released Wednesday by the NCAA.
Junior captain John Boyle, who is listed 23rd in the coaches' panel rankings at 157 pounds, leads American in the RPI, ranked 19th. Boyle has compiled a 31-7 overall record on the season, which includes three victories over nationally ranked opponents.
At 125 pounds, junior David Terao is ranked 24th in the RPI. The two-time NCAA qualifier, who has recorded a 32-4 overall mark this season, is also listed at 16th in the latest coaches' panel rankings.
Meanwhile, freshman Jeric Kasunic makes an appearance in the RPI, ranking 29th at 184 pounds. Kasunic owns a 20-8 record on the season, including a team-leading 11 falls.
The final RPI will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, which are being held March 19-21 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, RPI and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2015 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
