American University redshirt sophomore No. 10 David Terao dropped his wrestleback match in tiebreaker-1, being edged, 3-2, by Darian Cruz of Lehigh on Friday night in Oklahoma City, Okla. 

Cruz posted the first points of the bout on an escape in the second period and Terao was able to answer with one to tie it up in the third period. Cruz registered a reversal to take a 3-1 edge and Terao had an escape with 20 seconds to go. He continued to push for the winning takedown, but time ran out as Cruz held on for the 3-2 decision.

Terao was the 10th-seed in the tournament at 125 lbs. and finished the year with an overall record of 34-10, picking up his first career NCAA Tournament victories. He owns a career mark of 62-24 and already ranks in the American career record books in falls (8th - 16) and major decisions (11th - 10).
