Mitchell, Terao Earn Seeds at NCAA Tournament; ESPN to Broadcast Every Session of 2014 Championships


The brackets for the 2014 NCAA Championships were released this week and American University wrestlers Daniel Mitchell and David Terao both earned seeds heading into the tournament.

Terao earned the No. 10 seed in the tournament after finishing second at the EIWA Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. last weekend. The RS sophomore went 32-8 on the year with a team-best eight major decisions, six falls and two tech falls. He will face the winner of a pigtail bout between Brandon Jeske of Old Dominion and Corey Keener of Central Michigan in the first round.

Mitchell was seeded 13th at 197 lbs. and placed third at the EIWA Championships to earn his fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament. He is 24-7 this season and leads the team with nine falls while also adding four major decisions. The RS senior opens his tournament run against Wisconsin's Timothy McCall.

Blake Herrin will join the pair at the NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City after placing fourth in Philadelphia last weekend. He is 19-14 on the year with five major decisions and one fall. Herrin will kick off the tournament against the 10-seed Jeremy Johnson of Ohio.

ESPN announced on Friday that all six sessions of the 2014 NCAA Championships will be carried on its networks. Every match of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN3. ESPNU will air the first and second sessions as well as the quarterfinals and medal round and ESPN will televise both the semifinals and finals.
