The American University wrestling team dropped its second straight EIWA dual, falling to Navy, 34-8, on Saturday night in Bender Arena.

The dual opened at 197 lbs. with Paul Rands earning a 10-2 major decision over Brett Dempsey. Blake Herrin and No. 11 David Terao put the Eagles up 8-4 in the match with back-to-back victories. Herrin registered a 13-5 major decision over Colynn Cook and Terao followed it up with a 14-5 major decision over Brendan Campbell.

The Midshipmen won each of the next seven matches to close out the dual. Spencer Slishman was edged, 10-6, by Quentin Leadbeter and Cole Moseley ended up on the short end of a 7-3 decision to Alex Johnson. John Boyle then dropped a 4-3 decision to Robert Burg at 157 lbs. and Navy was able to pick up bonus points in the final three matches of the night.

"Blake and David wrestled very well tonight," said Head Coach Teague Moore. "They are executing extremely well and hopefully they can continue to carry this momentum into the postseason. We made mistakes that cost us the close bouts. We can do better and must do better when it's match time."

American faces North Carolina State in its final home dual of the season on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. and will then head to nearby College Park, Md. to take on Maryland at 5 p.m. Sunday's dual against North Carolina State will also mark Senior Day and Alumni Day for the Eagles, with American's four senior student-athletes, Chris Brienza, Keithen Cast, Herrin and Daniel Mitchell, being honored prior to the first match. The dual will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
