The American University wrestling team rebounded from a loss in its EIWA opener with a 3-0 record at the Patriot Duals on Sunday afternoon in Boston Mass., picking up victories over EIWA foes Harvard, 25-12, Boston U., 22-16, and Brown, 31-13.

"AU Wrestling came out fighting today and the results showed that," said Head Coach Teague Moore. "We won many of the close matches, which was the biggest factor in our wins. This team is young but with this type of positive attitude they can achieve what they set their minds to. I'm happy for this group, they represented AU very well today."

Three grapplers went 3-0 on the day for the Eagles. No. 12 David Terao won the first match after a Harvard forfeit and was able to pick up bonus points in his next two bouts. He pinned Bubba McGinley of Boston in 43 seconds, a new career-best, and registered a 21-6 technical fall over Brown's Vincent Moita.

No. 9 Daniel Mitchell won all three matches by bonus points as well, opening his day with a 10-2 major decision over Harvard's James Fox and following it up by pinning Boston's Kristian Meyer in 3:26. He closed out the Duals with a 15-5 major decision over Brown's Augustus Marker.

Blake Herrin was also undefeated on the day, earning a 5-2 decision over Harvard's Nick Gajdzik and 6-1 decision over Kevin Innis of Boston. He won the final match of the day after a Brown forfeit.

Esteban Gomez-Rivera, John Boyle and Keithen Cast went 2-1 at the Duals. Gomez-Rivera posted an 11-4 decision over Jeff Ott of Harvard and 7-1 decision over Brown's Anthony Finocchiaro. His lone loss of the day came in a 5-1 decision to Boston's Dane Harlowe. Boyle opened the day with an 11-5 decision over Harvard's Tyler Grimaldi and closed out the event with a 4-2 decision over Justin Staudenmayer of Brown after being edged, 7-3, by No. 10 Nestor Taffur of Boston. Cast picked up a 4-1 decision over Ian Roy of Harvard and a 15-5 major decision over Boston's Eric Des Lauriers, dropping a 3-1 decision to Boston's Ricky McDonald in sudden victory overtime.

American returns to Bender Arena for back-to-back duals next weekend. The Eagles host Army on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. and take on Gardner Webb and Columbia in a tri-meet on Sunday, Jan. 19 beginning at 12 p.m.
