Terao Wins 125 Lbs. Title at the Central Jersey Open

Freshman David Terao of the American University wrestling team captured the Central Jersey Open championship at 125 lbs. Sunday. The open event was hosted at the College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J.

Terao, who is redshirting this season for AU, won all four of his bouts to earn the title. He began with a 6-1 decision over Nick Lamoreaux of Kutztown in the first round before defeating North Carolina's Jacob Corrill by a fall at the 2:00 mark. Terao then took care of PJ Schmidt from the College of New Jersey, 11-5, in the semifinals and won by an 11-6 decision over Bloomsburg's Dereck Enders in the finals.

This marks Terao's first tournament win in his second open tournament thus far this season. He has recorded a 7-2 record with two falls this year.
