Video: Cody Named NWCA National Coach of the Year

American University Head Wrestling Coach Mark Cody has been named the 2011 NWCA National Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to fifth place at the 2011 NCAA Championships.

American set a new program record with it's fifth-place finish and total of 65 points, just 5.5 points behind Oklahoma state for fourth. The Cody led Eagles also matched their program record with three All-Americans, including heavyweight Ryan Flores who made the program's second appearance in the finals. Flores, who placed second, was joined on the podium by Steve Fittery, the third-place finisher at 157 lbs., and Ganbayar Sanjaa who placed fourth at 149 lbs.

American qualified a total of six student-athletes for the tournament, also marking a program record.  The Eagles' other qualifiers included Matt Mariacher who finished one win shy of earning All-America status, Daniel Mitchell and Patrick Graham.
