Wrestling alumnus Kyle Borshoff, KSB/BS '10, will compete in the 2010 Freestyle World Team Trials this Saturday, June 12, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with hopes of qualifying for the World Team before this summer's World Championships. The top three placewinners from each weight class at the trials will qualify for the World Team with the first-place finisher earning the starting position at that weight.
Borshoff qualified for the World Team Trials on May 2, winning the Northeast Senior Freestyle Regionals held in Brockport, N.Y. Borshoff defeated Justin Pearch in the finals of the 66 kg weight class, 0-1, 3-1, 1-0, capping off a perfect 4-0 weekend. He is the first wrestler in program history to qualify for the World Team Trials.
Borshoff completed his collegiate wrestling career this March at the 2010 NCAA Championships where he earned All-America status with an eighth-place finish at 149 lbs. He finished his career as a two-time All-American, a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier, a four-time EIWA placewinner and ranks fifth all-time at American with 102 wins.
