WASHINGTON - Redshirt junior Cooper Bryant was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-Mid-Atlantic Third Team, as announced by the association on Tuesday, December 9. Bryant received First Team Patriot League honors earlier this fall
Bryant anchored an AU defense that allowed 1.41 goals per game and pitched six shutouts, four coming in league play. Bryant, a team captain, has been relied upon all season to shut down the opposing team's biggest offensive threat from his center back position. Bryant helped lead the Eagles to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since the 2004 season.
"Several other players may have deserved to join Cooper on the final ballot, however, this is a tremendous honor for Cooper, the team and the program," said AU head coach Todd West. "Cooper was arguably one of our most consistent performers all season. He was instrumental in our climb to the top of the Patriot League regular season standings and our winning record this fall. This is a well deserved honor, and the coaching staff extends its congratulations to Cooper."
