WASHINGTON - American University freshman Jack Scott was named Patriot League BRINE Rookie of the Week in men's soccer the league announced on Monday. Scott helped lead the Eagles to a 2-0 week, beginning with a 2-0 win over Army on Monday to clinch a berth in the post-season conference tournament. American then went on to end Bucknell's post-season chances with a 3-2 double overtime win on Saturday at Reeves Field.
Scott tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season just a minute into the Army game, which would hold up as the game-winner. Scott has four goals and one assist for nine points in his rookie campaign for the Eagles.
American, the No. 2 seed in the PL Tournament, will head to Hamilton, N.Y. on Friday where they will play No. 3 Holy Cross at 7 p.m. on the campus of Colgate. The Eagles defeated the Crusaders 1-0 earlier in the season.
