AU Men's Soccer Moves to No. 4 in the Region

WASHINGTON - Following a 1-0 win over Patriot League rival Holy Cross last Saturday, the Eagles claim the No. 4 spot in the Middle Atlantic Region in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings. Five PL teams are ranked this week, with Holy Cross fifth, Colgate sixth, Lehigh seventh, and Lafayette in the ninth spot.

American will head to upstate New York for the next two games, as they play at Colgate on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and the United States Military Academy on Monday at 3 p.m. A win over the Raiders will clinch a berth in the Patriot League Tournament and win in both games will clinch the top-seed for the Eagles and home field advantage.

The Eagles have been spreading around the offense this season and are led offensively by senior forward Anthony Moy, who has recorded four goals, including a game-winner. Freshman Jack Scott has three goals and an assist, while junior Karsten Smith has tallied three goals from his center back position and sophomore Daniel Shannon also has three goals, despite only seeing time in 11 games.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Makowski is the lone Eagle to start all 15 games this season. He has five shutouts, including three in league play, and a goals against average of 1.23.
