WASHINGTON — Patriot League Tournament implications will be on the line this Saturday, as the American University men's soccer team travels to Lafayette for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Eagles are coming off a 4-1 loss to Loyola Maryland on Wednesday. Andreas Djurhuus scored his first collegiate goal in the 20th minute to tie the game 1-1. The Greyhounds scored the next three goals en route to the win.
Nicholas Dimitrijevic leads the Eagles in goals with five and points with 10. Tim Neumann is second in points with nine and leads the squad with five assists. John Mino has posted a 2.31 goals against average.
Lafayette is looking to lock up a spot in the league tournament and would need a win over American and either a loss or tie by Army West Point and Colgate to secure the sixth spot. American would need to win its final two games against Lafayette and Army West Point and get help around the league in order to move into the tournament quarterfinals.
The Leopards are coming off wins over Colgate and Navy. Evan Vare recorded a hat trick in the win over the Midshipmen. Vare leads the team in goals (6), points (13) and shots (38). The Leopards have split time in goal between Brad Seeber and Brian Ehrlich. Seeber has gotten the call nine times and has posted a 1.56 goals against average. Ehrlich has made eight appearances with a 2.27 goals against average.
American will host Army West Point next weekend on Senior Day Saturday.
