WASHINGTON – The American University men's soccer team faced a physical Boston University squad to open the Patriot League schedule but fell, 2-0, to the Terriers on Saturday afternoon.
AU (1-7-1, 0-1-0 PL) outshot the Terriers (2-5-1, 1-0-0 PL), 9-8. Nicholas Dimitrijevic led the Eagles with two shots.
John Mino made a pair of saves while his counterpart Michael Bernardi stopped all six Eagle attempts.
BU got on the board in the fourth minute off a free kick by Satchel Cortet that was headed in by Matt McDonnell. Early in the second half, Eric Mubang scored off a cross from Mana Chavali.
American will sit idle until next Saturday when they face Bucknell on the road at 4:00 p.m.
