The American University men's soccer team will host Lafayette on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reeves Field. Both squads come into the match in a share of first place in the Patriot League with identical 2-0 conference records.

American (5-3-2) is undefeated in its last four contests, which includes the two Patriot League wins. On Sunday, in their last time out, the Eagles rolled past Army, 4-0. Junior Daniel Shannon scored two goals to lead American's potent offensive attack, while sophomore Jack Scott and junior Jamie Davin each converted their first goals of the season. American controlled the tempo and style of play for nearly the entire match as the Eagles posted a season-high 26 shots, with nine on goal, to the Black Knight's two.

American opened up conference play on September 26, defeating Bucknell, 3-1. A trio of juniors - Nick Kapus, Mike Worden and David Menzie - scored goals for the Eagles in the victory.

Additionally, during this four-match unbeaten streak, the Eagles won 1-0 at Virginia Tech, and played to a 1-1 draw at James Madison. The Hokies and Dukes were a combined 7-3-2 at the time of American's matches against each of the squads.

Lafayette (7-2-1) also comes into Saturday's match riding a hot streak, winners of each of its three previous matches. The Leopards opened conference play with overtime victories against Holy Cross and Lehigh. Sandwiched between these Patriot League victories was a 2-0 triumph over Villanova. The Leopards have not allowed a goal since September 20, when they were defeated 2-1 by Northwestern.

In the latest NSCAA/adidas Division I Mid-Atlantic region rankings (released October 6), Lafayette is ranked second, while AU is third. Other regionally-ranked teams from the Patriot League are Lehigh (fourth) and Bucknell (fifth).
