WASHINGTON — The final regular season contest for American is on the road Saturday at Holy Cross — a team the Eagles defeated by 17 points in early February. An American win will automatically clinch a home game (#4 vs. #5) in the upcoming PL Tournament.

Patriot League Tournament Scenarios

  • Sa'eed Nelson finished with 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Nelson is eighth all-time in AU scoring after passing Mark Nickens on the scoring list. Nelson now had 1,530 career points.
  • Jacob Boonyasith led the Eagles with 17 points off the bench in 33 minutes. Boonyasith connected on 4 of 7 from the outside and had all but two points in the second half.
  • In the frontcourt, Mark Gasperini and Josh Alexander combined for 23 points and eight rebounds.
  • Stacy Beckton Jr. nearly reached double-digit number in scoring with nine points but filled the stat sheet on other ways to continue his impressive run through PL play. Beckton added six rebounds, three blocks, three assists and two steals.

  • Jacob Grandison leads the Crusaders in scoring at 13.7 points per game. Over the last three games, Grandison is averaging 10.3 points after dropping 18 in a win over Bucknell on Feb. 16. He is third in assists with 89.
  • Averaging 12.8 points, Austin Butler is second on the team in scoring. Despite going 0 of 6 and being held scoreless at Colgate, Butler reached double digits in his previous six games.
  • Jehyve Floyd is third in scoring overall (12.3), but is one of the top offensive threats in PL-only games (15.4). Floyd is the second-best shooter in the nation at 68.5 percent from the floor.

  • If American finishes in seventh, the Patriot League Tournament begins on Tuesday with first-round matchups on Tuesday evening at Bender Arena.
  • If American finishes 4-6, the PL Quarterfinals will be played next Thursday at the highest seed.
