WASHINGTON — The American University men's basketball team sits in a three-way tie for fourth place with Colgate and Wednesday's opponent Loyola Maryland. The Greyhounds have won four of their last five league games while American has won its last two and three of six.

  • Sa'eed Nelson finished his eighth straight Patriot League contest in double figures with 20 points, four assists and three rebounds. Nelson was a driving force on both ends of the field with two steals and two drawn charges. Nelson was also named the Patriot League Player of the Week.
  • Stacy Beckton Jr. picked up his first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also added two blocks and one steal on the defensive end. This is his fourth straight game in double figures and is second since his insertion into the starting lineup.
  • Sam Iorio had 17 points and made 9-9 FT, including four in a double-technical called against Bucknell.

  • Andrew Kostecka leads the Greyhounds and the PL in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game. Kostecka is 38th nationally in scoring. He also leads the team in assists (2.5) and second in rebounds (5.0). Kostecka has scored in the mid-20s in three or the last four games. His season-high is 31 points against Drexel.
  • Chuck Champion is second on the team at 12.4 points per game. Against Colgate, Champion had 19 points and six rebounds.
  • The injury to Brett Holcombe hasn't stopped the Greyhounds as freshman Jaylin Andrews, Isiah Hart and KaVaughn Scott have stepped up in his absence. Andrew (this week's PL Rookie of the Week) is averaging 5.0 points while Hart and Scott are at 9.0 and 7.8 points per game.
