American falls to Bucknell

WASHINGTON — The American University men's basketball team dropped its final regular season game of the season, 80-61, to Bucknell on Saturday evening.

American dropped to 6-23 on the season and 3-15 in the Patriot League. Bucknell finished the regular campaign with a 22-9 record and 16-2 in the PL.

By virtue of a Leigh win over Lafayette, the Eagles will head to Easton, Pennsylvania to take on the seventh-seeded Leopards on the road this Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the First Round of the Patriot League Tournament. 

Sam Iorio led the Eagles with 17 and four rebounds. Sa'eed Nelson and Larry Motuzis each had 15 points. 

Nana Foulland led all scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds. Zach Thomas added 16 points and seven rebounds. Stephen Brown was the third player in double figures with 10 points. 

Bucknell led 38-22 at the half. The Bison held their largest lead 49-27 off free throws by Thomas with 17:12 left in the contest.
