Men's Basketball Signs Talented Shooting Guard Hoekstra

WASHINGTON — American University head men's basketball coach Mike Brennan has added 6-foot-5 guard Max Hoekstra to the roster for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Hoekstra spent the past four years at 22ft Academy in Greenville, South Carolina and hails from Zwolle, The Netherlands.

As a senior, Hoekstra finished with 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 2.0 rebounds per game.

"Max has a knack for scoring and can really stretch the floor on offense," said Brennan. "He is smart enough to defend on the perimeter and strong enough to defend bigger forwards."

Hoekstra joins Sam Iorio, Drew Lamont, Marvin Bragg and Jesse Little as members of the upcoming class at American.
