Men's Basketball Falls to Bucknell 69-60

WASHINGTON – The American University men's basketball team was unable to hold off a late run by Bucknell in Bender Arena on Thursday night, as the Eagles suffered their second Patriot League loss of the season, 69-60.

American falls to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the PL while the Bison remain undefeated in the PL with a 3-0 conference record and 11-5 overall.

Freshman Sa'eed Nelson once again led the charge on the scoring front with 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.  Sophomore Lonnie Rivera contributed a career-high 15 points off the bench.

Nelson and senior Charlie Jones led the Eagles on the boards with four rebounds apiece.

AU shot 40 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the line, going 11-of-15 from the charity stripe.

The Bison put three starters in the double figures, starting with 24 points from Kimbal Mackenzie.  Zach Thomas and Nana Foulland contributed another 16 points and 11 points, respectively.  Stephen Brown pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, all on the defensive end.

Bucknell shot 55 percent from the field off of 22-of-40, and made 22-of-31 from the line. 

The Eagles will be back on the road this weekend with a 2 p.m. tipoff at Lehigh on Sunday.
