WASHINGTON — American has won its last five contest heading into a tough game against Lehigh at Stabler Arena on Saturday night. American Has seen its offense take shape during the run, as the Eagles are outscoring their opposition by an average nine points.
Freshman Delante Jones led all scorers with 18 points as the American University men's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 69-55 home victory over Patriot League-leading Bucknell on Wednesday evening. Three other Eagles finished in double figures with freshman James Washington adding 12 points, followed by junior Paris Maragkos with 11 and senior Jesse Reed with 10. The Eagles outrebounded the Bison 33-28 and forced 12 turnovers.
Combinations are always something to look at in sports. Over the past 10 games, the Mountain Hawks have had a loss-win combination. The streak started with a loss to Army West Point to begin league play. Since then, the Mountain Hawks have traded wins and losses with their last contest outcome a win at Loyola. Tim Kempton is showing the Patriot League why he was chosen as the preseason player of the year. The center is averaging 17.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Despite missing three games, Kempton is one of the best shooters on the team with a field goal percentage of 51 and a free throw percentage at 78.
