Navy Game Notes

WASHINGTON — After a week off thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, American and Navy will square off. American won the previous meeting with the Midshipmen, 68-49, on Feb. 25, 2015.

Senior Jesse Reed and freshman Delante Jones combined for 46 points and the American University men's basketball team snapped a 10-game losing streak and picked up its first Patriot League win of the season, 81-73, over Lafayette.

Navy sits atop the Patriot League along with Bucknell, as American is coming off its first win of the Patriot League season last week. Navy is looking for its first winning season since 2009 when the Mids went 19-11 under Billy Lange.

Senior Marko Vasic will play in his in 100 career game on Wednesday. He is set to be the second active Eagle to hit the 100-game mark. Senior Jesse Reed played in his 100th career game at Wagner earlier this season. Junior Charlie Jones is next in line having played 77 games in his career.

NAVY SCOUT

Navy was scheduled to play against Army West Point at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, but Winter Storm Jonas and a State of Emergency in New York postponed the game until Feb. 1 at West Point. Navy is riding a six-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest and sport a 6-1 Patriot League record under fifth-year head coach Ed DeChellis.

Sophomores Shawn Anderson and Jace Hogan lead the Midshipmen in scoring this season after playing in reserve minutes last season. Hogan and Will Kelly are in the top 15 in PL rebounding, pulling down 5.6 and 5.3 boards per game, respectively. Kelly is second in the league in field goal percentage at 60.2 percent and first in block shots at 2.9 per game.

DeChellis has rolled out two starting lineups this season, with the group consisting of — Tillman Dunbar, Shawn Anderson, Kendall Knorr, Tom Lacy and Will Kelly — posting a 14-3 record.
