WASHINGTON - The American University cross country teams released the 2019 schedule on Thursday, August 1, which will feature high-level regional competition throughout the five-meet regular-season slate.
"The coaching staff and I are excited about the schedule we have put together this fall," said Head Coach Sean Graham, currently heading into his third season at AU. "We are adding a few new competitions that we haven't seen in the past to ensure the competition level evolves right along with our team throughout the season. We also were very intentional in the actual courses to better prepare us for the championship season. It is a challenging set-up with a variety of locations and terrains which we think will have us ready to roll in November."
The teams will open close to home with the Mount St. Mary's 5k Duals on August 30 and the George Mason Invitational on September 13 before traveling to Blacksburg, Va., for the VT Alumni Invitational on Sept. 20.
AU will preview the 2019 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional course with its return to the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., on October 5 before closing the regular season at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 19.
The Patriot League Cross Country Championships will open up postseason competition in Hamilton, N.Y., on November 2, followed by the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bethlehem, Pa., on Nov. 15. The NCAA Championships are slated for Nov. 23 at Terre Haute, Ind.
