WASHINGTON - The American University cross country teams will feature in five regular-season meets before the Patriot League Championships in Lewisburg, Pa., on Oct. 27, head coach Sean Graham announced on Monday.
"We're really excited about this year's competition schedule," said Graham, who is entering his second year at the helm of the Eagles' program. "We will be traveling to a few different meets this year as well as continuing with some meets we've frequented in the past.
"With this schedule, we have the ability to compete on both the conference meet and NCAA regional meet courses prior to those competitions and will race against a greater variety of teams. We're looking forward to seeing our fans, family, and friends around the courses this fall."
The Eagles will open their season at Bucknell in the Bison Open on Aug. 31, where they will have the chance to preview the Patriot League Championship course before the conference meet on Oct. 27. From there they will preview another postseason course, this time at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational (Sept. 7). The Eagles will return to State College, Pa., on Nov. 9 for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, where they will battle for qualification into the NCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Wisconsin on Nov. 17.
AU will split between the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., and the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va., on Sept. 29 before closing out the regular season at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 12.
