Hooks Named GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON – Sophomore Adriana Hooks found herself back at the helm of American University cross country, leading the squad for the third time this season at Saturday's Princeton Invitational.

Hooks' 6,000m personal record (PR) of 21:58.20 put her in the top-20 of the competitive field (19th), and earned her the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week award for October 10-16.

This is the second consecutive PR for Hooks this season, after she clocked her fastest 5,000m time on the cross country course at the September 23rd Panorama Farms Invitational (18:10.0).  Hooks has stepped up in a big way this season, leading the team throughout her sophomore campaign after consistently finishing second for the Eagles in 2015.

AU now looks toward the Patriot League Championships, hosted by Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania on October 29.  For the latest on the Eagles, stay tuned to AUEagles.com and follow the team on Twitter @AU_TrackXC.
