Cross Country Places 18 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

The American University men's and women's cross country teams combined for a total of 18 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selections, conference officials announced. Both the men's and women's teams received nine Academic Honor Roll selections.

The women's team was led by 2013 Academic All-Patriot League selection Julia Sullivan (International Studies and Environmental Studies), who was one of 17 student-athletes in the conference to earn a 4.00 GPA in the fall semester. She was named to the Academic Honor Roll for the seventh consecutive time. Senior Ali Tyburski (3.33, Public Communication) was also recognized on the list for the fourth straight year.

2013 Academic All-Patriot League honorees John Pope (3.89, International Studies) and Thomas Woermer (3.88, CLEG) led the men's team. Pope received his seventh consecutive honor while Woermer was recognized for the fifth straight time.

American had 18 combined honorees this season. Bucknell led the Patriot League with 44 combined selections. Lehigh was second with 33 honorees followed by Navy (28), Army (22), Holy Cross (20), Colgate (19), Loyola (19), Lafayette (12) and Boston U. (11).

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's championship sports.
