@AU_TrackXC Earns Record Book Marks During Two-Meet Weekend

WASHINGTON – The American University track & field team came away with a six personal records (PR's) and three AU all-time top-ten performances this weekend after the team split between the Raleigh Relays and Navy Invitational.

Seven Eagles opened competition on Friday with the two-day Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility. Senior Brianna Belo earned the highest finish of the day, crossing less than a second off her school record performance from last season with a 2:08.06 for fourth in the field.

In the men's 800m, senior Liam Purdy moved up to No. 4 in the AU record book with a new PR of 1:50.93, good for a sixth-place finish.

Junior Adriana Hooks was the only other Eagle to walk away from Raleigh with a record-book mark after she made her 10,000m debut with the third-fastest time in program history at 35:45.81 for 35th overall.

Senior Alaeldin Tirba also earned a new PR in Raleigh with his 14:29.62 crossing for 34th in the 5000m.

In Annapolis, the women's 4x400m relay was the only record-book mark of the day after the foursome of sophomore Emily Houghton, sophomore Kaitlyn McTernan, senior Jude Mabone, and senior Sammie Paul placed sixth in the field with a final time of 4:21.81 – the tenth-fastest in AU history.

Leading the way for the Eagles at Navy was Mabone, who paced the 1500m field with a new PR of 4:41.02. Sophomore Arianna Lopez and McTernan followed close behind with PR's of their own. Lopez crossed in 4:45.98 for fourth in the field while McTernan timed through in 4:54.12 to place tenth.

Houghton closed out the PR performances for the weekend with her eighth-place finish in the 800m run in 2:23.76.

On the men's side, junior Trevor Patton earned the highest individual finish of the day after he closed in third in the long jump with a top mark of 6.75m (22-1.75).
