WASHINGTON - Junior Liam Purdy has had quite the start to the outdoor season, as he tallied back-to-back event wins to earn his second GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week nod this year.
Purdy entered his outdoor campaign riding the momentum from his Patriot League title runs in the 800m and 4x800m relay, and has now stretched his undefeated streak to four after tallying wins in the first two meets of the season. First up was the Maryland Invitational on March 18, where he led the 1500m run field with a new personal record (PR) of 3:51.53, falling two seconds short of a new All-Time Top Ten mark in the event.
He followed that performance up with yet another PR run, taking the reins in the 800m run at the Navy Invitational on March 25 with a 1:52.93 finish to land less than a second out of another All-Time Top Ten spot.
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, with the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. For the latest on AU Track & Field, stay tuned to AUEagles.com and follow the team on Twitter @AU_TrackXC.
