Ryan Williams paced the American University track and field teams at the Maryland Invitational with a first place finish in the 5,000 meter run.
Williams recorded a time of 14:49.62 in the event to take home the individual title. Mark Leininger also tallied a top finish for the Eagles in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:38.70 to place second.
John Pope rounded out the top-10 finishers for the men's team with his seventh place finish in the 1,500 meter run in a time of 3:58.29. The sophomore was followed in the event by Constantine Matsakis with his 11th place finish (4:00.10) and Josh Olsen, who placed 12th (4:00.40).
Octavia Rinehardt led the women's team with her third place finish in the 3,000 meter run in a time of 10:06.63. Ali Tyburski and Julia Sullivan both tallied top-10 finishes in the 1,500 meter run. Tyburski stopped the clock at 4:45.56 to place fourth while Sullivan crossed the line in a time of 4:59.79 to finish 10th.
Alexa Bolden was the lone field competitor for the Eagles and finished 14th in the long jump with a final jump of 4.72 meters.
The men's team finished sixth in the team standings with 24 points on the day while the women's team placed seventh with 12 total points. Both the Navy men's and women's teams took home the team titles.
