CENTER VALLEY, Pa.– Liam Riebling of American University was voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Swimming and Diving Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Riebling, a sophomore from Ridgefield, Conn., was one of 10 men voted to the team by the league's swimming and diving communications contacts. Riebling carries a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in public relations and strategic communications.
He won the consolation final in the men's 200 butterfly at the recent PL Championships in a career-best 1:50.97. His mark moved him into seventh all-time at AU.
League champion Navy swept the Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. Senior Zach Piedt was the male selection, with junior Jamie Miller winning the women's award.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
