WASHINGTON – The regular season for American University Swimming and Diving begins this Friday when the Eagles host the Potomac Relay Invitational at 3 p.m. at the Frailey Pool.

The Eagles will join Georgetown, George Mason and Howard in the event, which will have the schools swimming in nine relays. Mason won the team title last year, with both the AU men and women placing second.

American opens the 2018-19 season with different squad makeups for the men and women.

Scott Callander, who broke a school record last year in the 100-yard butterfly that had stood for 20 years, leads three seniors on the men's side. Rohan Singh and Sam Fromkin are AU's other seniors.

On the women's side, all but two student-athletes are freshmen or sophomores. Last year, a talented freshman class helped the Eagles post marks that are among the top-16 all-time in all but one event.

Admission to the Potomac Relay Invitational is free. Fans are encouraged to watch the meet through the viewing windows on bleachers inside Bender Arena.
