WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 49th induction class for the Stafford H. "Pop" Cassell Athletics Hall of Fame was honored Saturday night, as Maureen Daniel, Sean Duffy and Josh Glenn were presented at a ceremony held at AU's Centennial Hall.
The threesome was honored before nearly 150 attendees in the new facility on AU's East Campus. Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Billy Walker presided over the event, which included a message from AU President Sylvia Burwell.
Daniel, a field hockey player from the Class of 2006, was a second team All-American as a senior. That year, she was also the league's Defensive Player of the Year and the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
She was presented to the ceremony by Eagles field hockey head coach Steve Jennings.
Duffy was presented by teammate Dustin Emrani and was honored for twice earning All-America status as an Eagle. Duffy was part of 17 Patriot League championships, combining his individual and relay titles. He posted marks in six events that still rank among AU's all-time top-10.
Glenn, the Eagles' lone NCAA national champion in wrestling, enters the Cassell Hall of Fame as a three-time All-American. The winner of the 197-pound final in 2007, Glenn also stands as the only Eagle with three individual titles in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association.
Glenn was presented by former AU head coach Mark Cody.
