WASHINGTON - Senior Sarah Bootman led the American University lacrosse team against Bucknell on Saturday, April 8, and earned her first career GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.
Bootman continued her career season with a personal-best five points against the Bison, leading the team in its near-comeback with four goals and one assist. With four games left in the regular season, Bootman has already surpassed her previous career-high by 15 points, totaling 24 for the season with 16 goals and eight assist.
She has also hit career bests in ground balls (10) and draw controls (10), and is the No. 2 scorer for the Eagles, averaging 1.3 goals per game.
Bootman will continue her senior campaign on Saturday, April 15, with a home contest against Army before hitting the road with the team on Wednesday, April 19, for a 4 p.m. draw at Navy. The Eagles will close their home schedule on Saturday, April 22, against Holy Cross for Senior and Alumnae Day.
