Keri Washington has joined American University as the new Assistant Director of Athletics Development.
She will direct all aspects of the Eagles Club annual fund for the department and lead alumni relations and events. She brings a wealth of knowledge in athletics administration, as well as her experience as a collegiate student-athlete to the Eagles' external-affairs programs.
Washington comes from Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, N.J., where she was the school's assistant athletic director. She was involved in all day-to-day game and event management for the school's 54 sports teams. Washington also directed all transportation, athletic fund initiatives and marketing for the school's athletic department.
While working as the assistant athletics director at Notre Dame, Washington also coached girls basketball and soccer. She helped to lead both programs to a combined four division titles as well as a county championship.
Washington also worked for Total Soccer Academy as a professional soccer trainer, where she worked with kids ages 2 through 18. During this time Washington trained and coached youth from across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Washington also was the head coach of the Mercer-County Elite boys AAU basketball team where she led her team to the elite 8 at the National Championship tournament.
Washington played collegiately at The College of New Jersey, where she helped lead her team to the 2009 NCAA Division III Final Four. In her junior and senior seasons, she was a member of the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference second team, as well as the team captain for both years.
Washington received her bachelor's degree in health and exercise science, as well as a minor degree in management in 2012. She also earn her MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in 2015.
