Reed, Crisler Earn Academic Honors

CLEVELANDLauren Crisler and Jesse Reed of American University were selected to the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Teams for women's and men's basketball, the association announced recently.

Ten student-athletes nationally were selected from Division I-AAA institutions, comprising the 99 Division I schools that do not sponsor football.
 
A junior forward North Wales, Pa., Crisler currently holds a 3.92 GPA as a finance major with a minor in economics. She is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team last month.
 
Crisler led the Eagles on the court this season, averaging a team-best 9.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. She ranked among the Patriot League leaders in rebounding and field goal percentage and registered a team-best 14 double-figure scoring games this season.
 
Reed, a senior guard from Saltsburg, Pa., was a three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and a three-time All-PL player. He won two Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and currently carries a 3.41 cumulative GPA in accounting.
 
He finished his four-year career with the Eagles as the 14th-leading scorer in school history. Reed led AU in scoring (12.9 points per game) and rebounding (4.5 boards per game).
 
Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions were eligible. Players must have reached their junior seasons, playing in at least 50 percent of their team's games and have a minimum of a 3.20 cumulative GPA.
